Founder & COO
Promoting farm-to-table ethics before it was even a thing, Tommy Williams grew up in the kitchen and frequented farmers market in his hometown of Austin, Texas—a wellness capital and hotbed of the natural food movement. His specialty is whipping up gourmet dishes while not compromising quality for taste, so it’s no surprise that farm fresh, fantastic flavors are what Tommy’s Superfoods is known for!
Williams’ entrepreneurial spirit started after a college baseball career when he founded Tommy’s – then a variety of salsas and spice mixes for sale by local vendors. The line was fueled by Williams’ fondness for wholesome food and flavors. As the company grew, so did Williams’ commitment to bringing healthy and delicious products to the mass market.
In 2014, Tommy’s Superfoods was born. Williams’ started to produce pre-seasoned flash frozen superfoods in BPA free, microwaveable packaging. From super greens to sweet potatoes, his delicious and convenient side dishes have transformed eating well from a chore, into a pleasure. Williams’ dedication to bringing tasty, healthy and convenient products to the frozen foods marketplace has helped make Tommy’s Superfoods a favorite amongst consumers. Tommy’s Superfoods is now available in popular retailers such as Costco, Bristol Farms, Kroger, H.E.B, among many others. And Tommy is just getting started.
CEO & Chairman
Doug Carlson holds an impressive background with over 34 years of experience leading well-known companies in digital publishing, hospitality, beverages and real estate. He previously held the roles of Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Fiji Water, LLC., Executive Chairman of Zinio, Chief Marketing Officer and Vice President for Nook Digital LLC and Managing Partner of Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa, among others.
Carlson joined Tommy’s Superfoods in 2015 with a drive to help elevate the brand as a leading producer of premiere flash frozen superfoods. As CEO and Chairman, Carlson’s primary goal is to position the brand as the innovative leader in the category.
With a degree in Accounting from Western State College and Carlson’s extensive background, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in management consulting, strategy and operations. He also really loves vegetables again.
In August of 2015 Tom became the CFO of Tommy’s Superfoods. Bringing over 25 years of unique finance, accounting and administration experience to the super foods table. As the former CFO for Zinio, a San Francisco-based digital magazine sales and distribution company, he enjoyed growing the company from 2007 to 2014. Prior to joining Zinio he was Vice President and CFO of AEXjet, a private jet company based in Aspen, CO. And as CFO of Fiji Water from 1998 to 2005, he helped develop the bottled water brand from a simple startup to a nearly $100 million a year company in annual sales. Previously, he had various finance and accounting roles at The Aspen Skiing Company and Vail Resorts. He has also built two houses, one for business and one for pleasure.
Tom looks forward to this latest super venture, and is currently making loads of room in his freezer.
Vice President, Sales
Justin was born and raised in Houston – but now calls Austin, Texas home. After finishing up a college baseball career, Justin jumped into the food business with longtime friend/teammate, Tommy Williams and has never looked back. With a strong entrepreneurial spirit, Justin became completely immersed in the CPG industry and found a passion for growing Tommy’s Superfoods into an innovative leader in the space.
Justin brings an extensive sales and marketing background in the food industry and continues to create successful retail partnerships on a national level. Striving to make Tommy’s a household name, Justin helps navigate the company’s continued growth, and is focused on National Sales/Marketing efforts.
Outside of the frozen aisles, Justin can be found in Austin spending time with his family and Old English Sheepdog, Snoop! Justin leads an active lifestyle and is always spending his time outdoors running Town Lake, golfing, or spending time on the closest lake or beach.
Kim Juarez, MS is a Nutritionist specializing in Weight Loss, Plant-Based foods, Sports Nutrition, Fitness and Health Education. Since graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Master of Science degree in Nutrition from Northeastern University, she has channeled her passion for the field of nutrition into educating others to live healthier lives. With over 20 years as a Nutrition Educator, Consultant, Health Coach and Entrepreneur, she has worked with countless individuals, corporations, schools, teams and organizations on improving performance at work, school and on the field with a healthy diet balanced for their lifestyle. Just some of the companies she has worked with include: Team in Training, Argus Health, Clif Bar, lucy activewear, Lululemon, Hint water, Popchips, Tommy’s Superfoods and more. Kim has been a featured nutrition and fitness contributor to books, magazines, radio and TV.
A California native, Kim spent years competing in triathlons and distance running races. Nowadays in her spare time, she can be found running the beautiful trails of Northern California, swimming, hiking and keeping up with her four athletic kids.
