Inside the Bag: Cauliflower and Green Beans

March 11, 2020 by Tommy's Superfoods 2 Comments

What you see is what you deliciously get inside a bag of Tommy’s!  We’ve talked about what’s “Inside the Bag” of Root Fusion, Broccoli Remix, Asparagus and Kale’s new look, and our new Asian Fusion medley. But now, we wanted to take a closer look at what makes the classic Cauliflower and Green Beans so delicious and nutritious.

We’ll give you a hint: it’s what’s inside the bag!

Cauliflower & Green Beans

A Combination Like No Other

Cauliflower, green beans, and yellow bell pepper. It’s a simple, yet unique combination, paired with hand-crafted seasoning to bring out the best in every bite.  Trust us, this mingling brings a flavor you won’t find anywhere else.

Cauliflower

You may think that cauliflower is just broccoli’s older cousin, but we’re here to tell you to think again! Not only is cauliflower incredible in texture and taste, it’s also packed with nutrients. Plus, it’s very versatile and low in carbs, making it the perfect addition to your plate. Some of the nutrients found in cauliflower are:

  • High levels of Vitamin C to support a strong immune system
  • A good amount of fiber (10% of your daily recommended amount per cup!), which helps with healthy digestion
  • Great amounts of antioxidants to fight disease
  • A good source of choline, an essential nutrient that aids in brain and nervous system development

Green Beans

If the first word that comes to mind when you think of green beans is “potluck,” get ready for something new. Don’t picture the cans or casseroles of holiday dinners, because these green beans are fresh, flavorful, and nutritious. In fact, some of the health benefits of green beans include:

  • No cholesterol and low sodium for a great heart-healthy choice
  • High in fiber, which helps with healthy digestion
  • Good amounts of protein to maintain muscle and bone health
  • A great source of Vitamins A and C, which boost your immune system

Yellow Bell Pepper

Bell peppers do more than provide some zest to our medleys, they also add important nutrients! That’s why they’re the perfect addition to a variety of our vegetable combinations. Yellow bell peppers:

  • Improve your heart health with good amounts of Potassium
  • Keep your nerves and muscles healthy thanks to great amounts of antioxidants
  • Support healthy digestion because of their high fiber content
  • Boost your immune system thanks to high levels of Vitamin C (up to 169% of the recommended daily intake!)

The Seasonings

From apple cider vinegar to fresh-frozen chives, we’ve been at work in the kitchen to provide you with the tastiest and most nutritious seasoning blends. Why? Because your health is one of our top priorities, down to every grain of salt!

Chives

You may have seen chives on top of your baked potatoes, in soups, or infused in a sauce. But chives are much more than a garnish! They add a mild onion flavor to our veggies, as well as some great nutritional benefits. Some of the benefits of chives include:

  • Providing Vitamin K, which is good for strong bones and healing cuts or scrapes
  • Combating disease and improving brain function thanks to good amounts of folate
  • Supporting immune system health with great levels of Vitamin C

Sea Salt

We know what you’re thinking: isn’t salt bad for you? Well, if you’re eating a diet with high levels of sodium, yes, you can see some negative effects. But a small amount of sea salt isn’t just good for seasoning, it actually has several health benefits! Some of these benefits are:

  • A healthy heart and brain, supported by sea salt’s great levels of magnesium and calcium
  • Reduced inflammation thanks to the minerals found in sea salt
  • Fewer muscle cramps and easier exercise recovery because of sea salt’s electrolyte content

Dehydrated Garlic

You might already know that we’re big fans of garlic, but in case you didn’t, here’s why! Garlic adds great flavor to a wide variety of foods, and has lots of health benefits. In fact, it’s been used as a “medicine” in some way for hundreds of years! Garlic can:

  • Battle colds and sickness and cut down on their severity
  • Improve your cholesterol and reduce your blood pressure
  • Fight cognitive diseases, like dementia or Alzheimer’s

Dehydrated Onion

Much like garlic, we love onion because of its great flavor profile and the added nutrients it brings to our veggies. Some of the nutrients found in onions are:

  • High levels of Vitamin C, which boost your immune system
  • A good amount of antioxidants that can keep your heart healthy
  • Rich amounts of B vitamins, which are key for a healthy metabolism

Black Pepper

Black pepper is a superb spice for a number of reasons. First, it adds an exciting flavor to all kinds of dishes. Second, it has lots of nutrients for an added punch of benefits on your plate. Black pepper’s health benefits include:

  • Cancer-fighting antioxidants
  • Lowering cholesterol and improving blood sugar levels
  • Reducing inflammation and boosting brain function

Chili Pepper

While we love the pinch of heat that chili pepper brings to this medley, we love its health benefits even more. Chili pepper can:

  • Help with weight management and healthy digestion
  • Alleviate headaches
  • Fight colds and other sicknesses

Apple Cider Vinegar

One of the most exciting new additions to several of Tommy’s veggie blends is apple cider vinegar.  This seasoning has been praised for its health benefits for quite some time, but you may not know what those benefits actually are. Some of apple cider vinegar’s benefits include:

  • Fighting diabetes and lowering blood sugar levels
  • Aiding in heart health by lowering cholesterol
  • Helping with weight loss and management

I have an allergy inquiry. Is the Asian fusion free of cinnamon?

      Hi Val,
Asian Fusion does not contain cinnamon and none of our other products contain cinnamon either. Thanks for asking.
