Plant-Based Celebrities

June 12, 2018 by Tommy's Superfoods 1 Comment

Whether it’s a strict menu from a nutritionist or completely cutting out calories, we often hear or read about celebrities following diets that the rest of us just don’t have time for or, let’s be honest, the motivation for…who wants to eat celery all day every day?  Not us!

Staying fit and healthy doesn’t take some crazy diet.  It doesn’t mean juicing weird things you’d much rather eat roasted with a little olive oil.  It doesn’t mean you have to cook every single meal from scratch with 30 ingredients.  Seriously.

Healthy eating is simple – just eat more vegetables – and if you’re looking for some super cool, healthy eating role models, we’ve got the list for you!

Plant-Based Celebrities Wearing the Veggie Love on Their Sleeve

Not every celebrity follows a complex (let’s call them what they are – hard to follow) diet.  A large number have started cutting out animal products, and following plant-based diets.  Sometimes this means going vegan, other times vegetarian, or sometimes they just pile on extra veggies and reduce the portion size of the meat on their plate.  Maybe they’re just trying out Meatless Monday.

Whether you’re jumping on the #ThinkVeggiesFirst bandwagon or just starting to think about eating a few more vegetables at dinner, you’re not alone!  Here are some familiar faces who are enjoying some extra green (and orange and yellow!) right along with you:

Liam Hemsworth

Had an epic dinner at the oldest vegetarian restaurant in the world!!! #hiltl #zurich

Liam Hemsworth, well known for his role in The Hunger Games, follows a vegan diet. He says that he started eating vegan for his health, and to help reduce the mistreatment of animals. According to him, there are no negatives to eating a plant-based diet, and he feels positive mentally and physically!

Kellie Pickler

This country singer has dedicated herself to a vegetarian diet to help with the humane treatment of animals. Kellie Pickler has found that replacing sugary, processed snacks with things like nuts, edamame and raw veggies gave her energy and helped keep her full between meals. She also brings her own stove with her on tour to keep up with her healthy plant-based eating!

Peter Dinklage

A vegetarian for 15 years, this Game of Thrones actor knows how to make it while eating plant-based. Recently becoming vegan, Peter Dinklage says that it’s easier than ever to eat plant-based now with the access to farmer’s markets and organic vegetables. He also believes that it’s really less expensive to follow a plant-based diet than eating meat when out at restaurants.

Alicia Silverstone

Yummy #vegan ‘Fat Fried Noodles’ from #thekindmama, with tofu scramble, steamed beets and onions on the side. Delish!!

“As if” this Clueless star wouldn’t follow a plant-based diet! Alicia Silverstone has been a vegan since 1998, when she was just 22 years old. She has continued to follow her diet, and has even written two cookbooks chock full of plant-based recipes: “The Kind Mama” and “The Kind Diet.”

Paul McCartney

At 75 years old, The Beatles singer definitely knows his stuff when it comes to eating a vegetarian diet. Paul McCartney has been a vegetarian since 1975, and credits his good health to eating s plant-based diet. He is also a big influence in the “Meat Free Monday” campaign in the UK, which encourages people to eat one meatless meal a week.

Jessica Alba

Kicking off the #FirstDayofWinter with one of my favorite #madewithZICO breakfast smoothies: Blend matcha green tea, banana, and ZICO 100% chilled coconut water with ice. Caffeine + electrolytes for hydration = ??. Thanks to my werk friends @ZICOcoconut for keeping my smoothie game strong year-round ❤ #InsideIsEverything

Eating Plant-Based with Ease

If you grew up in the meat and potatoes club like so many of us Millennials did, thinking about swapping some of the meat on your plate for veggies can be a little daunting. It may be that you’re not sure what foods to buy, or how to prepare them. Or maybe you just can’t give up cheese or bacon… But eating plant-based doesn’t mean you have to change your whole life!

Here at Tommy’s, we make it easy to find and try out healthy options. Each of our products offers simple cooking instructions so you can give plant-based eating a try without having to keep lots of fresh vegetables on hand or spend hours cooking. Just pick up a bag next time you’re at the grocery store and see for yourself!

Whether it’s 1 or 21 meals a week, trying a plant-based diet is for anyone!  Want some extra motivation?  Tag us @TommysSuperfoods on Instagram with photos of your #ThinkVeggiesFirst meals and we’ll cheer you on, one vegetable medley at a time.
